Life is Meant to be Lived.

It’s funny isn’t it. When we think we have all the time in the world to live, we forget to indulge in the experiences of living. When that choice is yanked away from us, that’s when we scramble to feelFatima Ali (MHSRIP)

Life is precarious. It is priceless, erratic, and every day is a gift rather than a given. Your happiness already has all of its necessary components. You are not required to search, run, battle, or strive. We exist in the interval between each breath. Through what we do, say, wear, and acquire, as well as how we enjoy ourselves and with whom and how we love, we frequently attempt to maintain the appearance of permanence. It is an illusion though, because change and death always shatter it.

The realization that everything in the world is transient forces us to acknowledge that every action we take might be our last, and this realization can give our actions a meaning and intensity that they would not otherwise have. May we never sleepwalk throughout our lives. May we never tip toe through life, but rather live it to the fullest.

Life is not meant for mediocre moments. Life is not made for you to stay stagnant, doing the same thing over and over again. Life is not meant to waste away your time through every sunrise and every sunset. Life is made for nights of star gazing, for nights spent with your best friends sipping red wine in the dark. Life is made for nights getting ready for first dates, and for experiencing the true magic, that is a first kiss.

Life is made for family road trips, for days roaming new territory and new land that you’ve never seen before. Life is made for climbing mountains when everyone around you tells you that you can’t do it. Life is made for doing it anyway.

Life is made for falling in love. For the tender touch of a hand that you want to hold for the rest of your life. Life is made for moments that send fireworks up your spine. Life is made for saying ‘I love you’ and not being scared of the response you’ll get back.

Life is made for breathing in cool air, for sipping giant mugs of hot chocolate on a cold chilly night, and for snuggling up with your best friend by the fireside. Life is made for March days when the sunshine finally starts warming up your worn-out skin. Life is made for summer, for endless sun rays and moments you can relive again and again. No matter the season.

Life is made for working hard. For having a dream and following through with it. Life is made for doing what you love and not apologizing for it. Ever. Life is made for recognizing that you are a star, and knowing that you’ll always have a light inside of you despite the weather forecast.

Life is made for big hugs. For long conversations with your parents about what you want your life to feel like. For knowing that you are doing your best. And knowing that that’s all you can do. Life is made for do-overs, for rebirths and starting all over again.

Life is made for messing up over and over again but getting up anyway. Life is made for failing and surviving. Life is made for heartbreaks, and new loves that erase all of that hurt in your heart. Life is for heartbreak and living through that pain. Life is for believing in love even after you have been broken.

Life is made for racing hearts, for running that mile that you never thought was possible, for kisses that stop time, and for laughing until you’re in stitches.

This life was given to you to live. This life was given to you to love. This life was given to you to find out what joy is. This life was given to you to experience the power of a touch. And this life was given to you to experience the power of a smile.

You have to chase the things that ignite you. You have to do the things that bring you joy. You have to surround yourself with the people who bring you back home to yourself, with the people who respect you and embrace you in ways that make you feel like you are worthy and accepted and loved. You have to do the work to heal yourself, even when it hurts, so that you do not continue to approach your life within the boundary of what is heavy within you. You have to put yourself out there, and you cannot worry about what other people think, you cannot rob yourself of experience or happiness or inspiration because you are scared of how you will be perceived. You have to be unapologetic in the way that you exist here. You have to believe that your ideas, and your hope, and your soul, deserves to take up space. You have to believe that you have purpose.

Because our existence is finite. And as hard as that can be to connect with, from time to time remind yourself that in the most human way — we are all living on borrowed time. We live as if we are promised the potential we are chasing, we live as if we have control over what happens to us. But we don’t, and that is liberating, because it is pressing — there is urgency within the lesson. It wakes you up.

Remember, you are not promised tomorrow. So how are you going to ensure that you crash your heart into your life? How are you going to ensure that you leave this world, whenever it happens for you, with a soul that is tender and full and weathered in the best way? With a soul that was never asked to make itself smaller, with a soul that was never waiting for the day it was skinnier, or prettier, or cooler, or more successful, in order to take advantage of the time it was given.

We cannot wait to be the people we have always dreamed of being. We cannot wait for life to perfect itself. There is no right time, there is no perfect circumstance. We have to leap, even when our legs are shaking. We have to show up for ourselves — not in 3 months, or 5 years, or 10 years, but now. In this moment. Because every single day is a blessing. Every single day is a gift. Do not lose sight of that.

Life is a gift. Wake up every day and realize that.

Take risks. Start something you always have dreamed of, do something that scares you, start a business, It can be a failure (but a learning and growing process), but it could also be a success. At least you tried. Be grateful. Buy yourself flowers. Light up a candle and read a book.

Do whatever you want that makes you feel happy – this is your life, don’t let anyone take it from you.

In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take, the things we were afraid to do, and the decisions we waited too long to make.

Live your dreams and take risks. Life is happening now.

Don't tiptoe through life to arrive safely at death.

XOXO
